Merkley hits the airwaves

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley is out with his first television advertisement of the cycle. The 30-second spot, called “Fighter”, focuses on what the campaign says is Merkley’s passion for change.

"This ad will introduce Oregonians to Jeff Merkley and convey his passion for making change, protecting a woman's right to choose, and ending the war in Iraq," said Merkley spokesman Matt Canter.  "Jeff has spent his life fighting for working families, affordable health care, and a clean environment.  This campaign is about fighting for real change in Washington D.C."

Merkley, the House Speaker, is in a fight for the Democratic nomination with Steve Novick, a longtime activist. Voters will head to the polls on May 20 to decide who will face off against Republican incumbent Gordon Smith in November.
