Audrey McCall, former First Lady of Oregon, dies at 92

Former First Lady Audrey McCall died on ThursdayFormer First Lady Audrey McCall, whose husband, Tom McCall, served as Governor of Oregon from 1967 to 1975, died on Thursday. She was 92.
"Audrey McCall was as much of an Oregon icon as her husband was," said Gov. Ted Kulongoski in a statement released on Friday. "She was a strong partner to Tom McCall and throughout her life was as committed as he was to make Oregon a better place for all its citizens."
The couple met in 1939 when Gov. McCall was working as a reporter for the News-Review in Idaho. They were married later that year. After being fired by the newspaper, the McCall's returned to Oregon, where the future Governor was offered a job as a reporter for The Oregonian. Gov. McCall died in 1983.
