State Sen. Kurt Schrader: Campaign photoState senator and U.S Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader's (D-Canby) campaign announced Thursday the formation of a group called "Republicans for Schrader," a group of key Republican officials in District 5 that will help Schrader pick up more conservative voters.
"I know that Senator Schrader is committed to representing all of us," said Tillamook County Commissioner Mark Labhart, a co-chair for the group. "Whether we're Republicans, Democrats, or not affiliated with a political party, Kurt Schrader will be a strong voice for the 5th Congressional District, particularly for our rural communities"
The group, which also includes Marion County Commissioner Janet Carlson and former Polk County State Representative Lane Shetterly (R-Dallas) says they will be assisting Schrader in reaching out to republican and unaffiliated voters in the 5th congressional district
Schrader is running against embattled Republican candidate Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego), who survived a controversial primary with Kevin Mannix after rumors became public that Erickson, a staunch conservative, may have paid for a former girlfriend's abortion.
