Oregon Speaker of the House and U.S Senate candidate Jeff Merkley’s (D-Portland) campaign is the first to weigh in on Monday with its second quarter fund raising numbers.
According to Matt Canter, spokesman for the Merkley campaign, the campaign raised $1,420,000 between April 1 and June 30th, and has $560,000 cash on hand. This is the strongest fundraising quarter for the Merkley campaign to date.
“This is our best quarter ever,” Merkley campaign spokesman Matt Canter said. “We’re really happy about these numbers.”
The Merkley campaign also reported raising over $420,000 online, which is double the amount raised by the campaign online for the past three quarters combined.
All eyes now turn toward U.S Senator Gordon Smith’s (R-Pendleton) second quarter fundraising numbers. At the end of March, Smith reported $4,731,406 in total contributions and had $4,882,436 cash-on-hand.
