The Bend Bulletin scolded Democrats for attempting to make an issue out of Gordon Smith’s wealth in an editorial on Wednesday.
The Daily Bulletin believes Democrats, including Oregon House Speaker and U.S Senate candidate Jeff Merkley (D-Portland), have been criticizing Smith for his wealth, attempting to imply he cannot relate to the average Oregonian because of his financial status. But they say that strategy is backfiring on Democrats.
“Having money doesn’t make someone a bad candidate or senator. Running a campaign on a spurious issue does,” the Bulletin wrote.

Are any of the authors of the "articles" from Oregon? "Corporate Kickback" (Corporate Kicker), Bend Daily Bulleting (Bend Bulletin).
Sheesh.
Hi Todd. Not from Oregon.
Hi Todd. Not from Oregon. But enjoying this fine state, and learning quickly. Thank you for your feedback.
Bulletin a right wing shill
The Bend Bulletin's editorial board is arguably the most knee-jerk rightwing mouthpiece of any mid to large sized newspaper in the state.
Their positions in support of Smith and against Merkley are not surprising, noteworthy or blogworthy.
They will become increasingly breathless and hysterical in their attacks on Merkley the closer we get to election day. That may be newsworthy.
But the story line of 'Bend Bulletin scolds/blasts/chastises (Merkley, the Dems, etc)' is already getting stale. I hope we don't have to read it here at Politicker.or on a weekly basis from now until November.
If we want to read the screeds of the Bend Bulletin's editorial board, just let us subscribe (or not, as may be our choice).
Bulletin Bashes Democrats
Not a headline worthy of reprint because it's not even news. The Bulletin reporters are actually quite good, but their ed-board is the most self-righteous voice in Central Oregon.
They have been consistently going after Westlund since he dropped out of the Gov race and helped Ted (Saxton was their guy)
Prediction: The token Democrat they endorse will be Kate Brown, the rest will be straight R-slate.
Good news is, democratic and progressive readers in central oregon think they are BS, so every time they editorialize against one of ours, it helps us.
I don't know how they sit down with that stick.
