Last month’s sudden departure of U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith’s (R-Pendleton) longtime spokesman RC Hammond may not have just been the “move to the private sector” Smith’s campaign claimed it had been.
The Willamette Week is questioning Hammond’s move after it acquired federal finance reports saying that Hammond was given $2,571.11 by the Smith campaign on June 8, two days before his resignation was announced.
