Smith ‘most likely not’ attending Republican National Convention

Senator Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton) will probably opt out of the Republican National Convention, according to campaign spokeswoman Lindsay Gilbride.

Gilbride said that while the schedule is not yet confirmed, Smith will probably take advantage of the first week of September by shoring up his support at home instead of within the party.

“That’s a week where he can be here and focused on the campaign,” Gilbride said. “Most likely, he’ll be in Oregon.”

The Republican National Convention will be in Minneapolis from September 1-4.
