U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) will not be attending the Republican National Convention, Walden’s campaign manager Brian Hard said in an e-mail Monday.
According to Hard, Walden will be using that week to work in his district.
This means that both of Oregon’s federal Republican politicians will not be in attendance when their party nominates U.S Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) as the presidential candidate. U.S Sen. Gordon Smith’s (R-Pendleton) campaign said a few weeks ago that he would also be staying in Oregon for the first week in September to campaign.
The Republican National Convention will be held in Minneapolis Sept. 1-4. Watch PolitickerOR.com for on-site coverage of both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions.
