Planned Parenthood endorses Westlund in treasurer's race

The Planned Parenthood PAC of Oregon, the political arm of Planned Parenthood, announced Wednesday it will be endorsing State Sen. Ben Westlund (D-Tumalo) in the Oregon State Treasurer’s race.

“Ben Westlund has the right priorities to help make health care more affordable for Oregonians,” said David Greenberg, chair of the Planned Parenthood PAC. “We trust him to be a State Treasurer who will continue to advocate on behalf of people who are having a hard time affording the health care they need to lead productive lives.”

Planned Parenthood has 16 centers throughout Oregon that are dedicated toward helping women with family planning, preventing sexually transmitted diseases, and cervical cancer screening. Greenburg said that Westlund’s extensive work in the Oregon Legislature on healthcare, and his experience in surviving cancer, made him the candidate that they wanted to support

“Westlund knows the importance of prevention and early screening,” said Greenberg.  “He understands that the services Planned Parenthood provides help people lead healthy lives.”
