All five of Oregon’s congressional representatives donated tens of thousands of dollars, and in some cases hundreds of thousands of dollars, to their respective party congressional campaign committees, according to numbers released by the Federal Elections Commission Friday.
Oregon’s Democratic representatives sent a total of $580,000 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, while Oregon’s lone Republican, U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, sent $136,404 to the Republican National Campaign Committee between January 2007 and June 2008. The committees will be in charge of disbursing the money to campaigns that need extra financial assistance during the election.
U.S. Rep. Earl Blumenaur (D-Portland) and outgoing U.S. Rep. Darlene Hooley (D-West Linn) tied for the largest overall donation. Both gave the DCCC $200,000. U.S. Rep. David Wu (D-Portland) wrote checks totaling $150,000. The smallest donation came from U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Springfield), who gave the DCCC $30,000.
Overall, the DCCC raised $29,772,760 from sitting House Representatives during the 18-month cycle. The RNCC raised $13,061,446.
