House District 26 candidate Matt Wingard (R-Wilsonville) became a full House member Tuesday when he was appointed to fill the seat of retiring Rep. Jerry Krummel (R-Wilsonville).
Krummel announced his retirement earlier this year, but after landing a new job he moved his retirement forward a few months. That gave Republicans the opportunity to appoint Wingard, who was already slated to run for Krummel's seat, as his replacement. Wingard's legislative tasks will be minimal between now and the November election, where he is facing off against Jessica Adamson (D-Sherwood).
"Matt brings an impressive amount of public policy experience to the House of Representatives," House Republican leader Bruce Hanna (R-Roseburg) said. "He will provide excellent service to the people of House District 26."
