Wyden tells delegates he’ll stump for Obama, Dem candidates
U.S. Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Portland) addressed the Oregon delegation at the Democratic National Convention Monday urging them to rally Oregonians behind Obama and promising them he would be out stumping for Obama throughout the Beaver State.
“Over the next few months I’m going to be out talking to small towns telling them Oregon is going to get some fresh air led by Barack Obama,” Wyden said. His wife and infant twins had joined him on stage to address the breakfast crowd of about 120. “We Wydens are going to make sure Barack Obama is president of the United States.”
Wyden also urged the delegates to lead Oregon beyond the years of the Bush administration and to start looking ahead toward electing what Wyden saw as promising Democratic candidates running for office.
“The effort of the Wyden team is behind everyone down ticket, including Jeff Merkley, Kurt Schrader and Ben Westlund,” Wyden said. “Everyone knows Oregon was one of the first states in the country to reject slash and burn tactics of the Bush administration.”
