OR-1: Wu suspected Biden as VP choice all along

U.S. Rep. David Wu (D-Portland) didn't know who presidential candidate Barack Obama (D-Ill.), would pick as his running mate, but on Monday Wu said all along he had a feeling it would be U.S. Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.).

“I had been talking about it in the congressional lunchroom, and I had said Biden,” Wu said, as he left a breakfast meeting with Oregon Delegates on his way to address the Asian Pacific Islander American Caucus. “But I also said no one knew for sure because this Obama campaign is so disciplined.”

Wu said that he was happy with the pick and said as Biden hit the presidential campaign trail, more Oregonians would learn about him and start to resonate with his message.

“Biden has shown both color and forcefulness; he’ll be a good partner for Obama,” Wu said. “Thus far there isn’t a deep impression, but when he gets out nationally with his message and his working roots, he will connect.”
