Oregon State University’s head basketball coach Craig Robinson assured the Democratic National Convention Monday night that Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has got game -- both on the basketball court, and in the political arena.
“He’s confident but not cocky, he’ll take the shot if he’s open, he’s a team player, and he won’t back down from any challenge,” Robinson said.
Robinson was introducing his sister, Michelle Obama, to the convention. He chose to introduce her as the woman who not only stood by her husband, but as the sister that had always worked hard for others, and had helped guide him to his current coaching job in Corvallis. He will begin his first season as OSU’s coach this fall.
“When I wasn’t happy doing what I was doing, she was the one who encouraged me to go back to doing what I love: teaching and coaching,” Robinson said. “And today, I am proud to be head coach of Oregon State University basketball team. Go Beavers!”
Michelle Obama took the stage after her older brother, and assured the convention that if Barack Obama had survived several games of basketball with Robinson, then he was certainly prepared to take on the challenge of the presidency.”
“As you can imagine, running for president is nothing compared to that first basketball game with my brother Craig,” Obama said.
