Oregon delegates want to move front and center for Merkley speech

DENVER -- Several of Oregon's Democratic delegates floated the idea of trying to exchange seats in order to be in full view of the podium when U.S. Senate candidate and Oregon House Speaker Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) addresses the convention Wednesday evening.

The idea is to ask the Colorado delegation, which is seated front and center in the Pepsi Center, to give their seats up to the Oregon delegation while Merkley is addressing the crowd so that his hometown delegation can be in front of him.

Regardless of where the delegation ends up in the Pepsi Center this evening, Oregon delegates passed out Merkley signs and sported Merkley buttons in anticipation of Merkley's speech. He will be the only person from Oregon to address the convention.

Merkley will be speaking at 4:30 Mountain time. His speech will be broadcast on C-SPAN.
