Cain: ‘I am extremely proud of them for standing together’

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- Oregon at-large delegate Donna Cain said she admires the way that vice presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska) and her family have stood up to the increased scrutiny that has come along with the revelation that one of Palin’s daughters is pregnant.

“This is a family that is dealing with their own problems instead of running to the government to help,” Cain said at the Oregon caucus lunch meeting at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday.

Palin’s family came into the spotlight after they released a statement saying that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was five months pregnant. According to the family, Bristol will be marrying the father-to-be.

“As a woman and as a mother, I am extremely proud of them for standing together,” Cain said.
