Jeff Merkley’s campaign spokesman Matt Canter blasted the National Republican Senatorial Committee Tuesday for straying from the issues in its ad, the national group's first foray into Oregon's Senate race.
“Rather than talk about the solutions, they attack Jeff Merkley for his less-than-country-club table manners,” Merkley spokesman Matt Canter said. “Gordon Smith never stood up to George W. Bush on his Russia policy. He must have had confidence that George W. Bush could see into Putin’s soul.”
Canter compared the NRSC’s focus on Merkley’s gaff to the three issues ads Merkley has aired in the past week.
“He’s been focused on the issues since day one, and he’s been doing policy reports on the biggest issues we face,” Canter said.
Canter did take a few shots at Smith for his own eating habits in response to the NRSC's use of video with Merkley trying to answer a question with his mouth full.
“Gordon Smith must eat his hot dog with a fork and a knife,” Canter said.
Aside from looking like a damned fool
Merkley was clueless as to what was going on in the world scene, despite the fact that he bills himself as a global policy expert.
I believe when he was presiding over the club "the World Affairs Council of Oregon" that Merkley wrote his secret advice to Bush. He would later go on to claim he [Merkley] had been against the war from the start and that he was the "only candidate" in the race to have "published" an anti-war article.
Here's one liberal saying we don't need any more "progressives" like Merkley in DC.
Here's how you can vote 'no' on Chuck Schumer's recruit.
