Boxer, Cantwell, Wyden to fundraise for Merkley
By Britten Chase, PolitickerOR.com ReporterOn October 2, a contingent of west coast Democratic senators will headline a fundraiser for Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) in his quest to join them in the Senate, according to an email invitation sent by the Merkley campaign Thursday.
Sens. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.), Maria Cantwell, (D-Wash.) and Ron Wyden (D-Portland) will be on hand for the event, which will help Merkley raise money for his challenge to Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton), the lone Republican Senator on the West Coast.
According to Merkley's letter to his supporters, there will be several televisions at the event so guests can watch the vice presidential debate between Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) and Gov. Sarah Palin (R-Alaska).
The event will be at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Portland. Tickets start at $50.
