FuturePAC head Michele Rossolo said Thursday that the Democratic political action committee has no plans on retracting statements made in recent mailers regarding Rep. Scott Brunn's (R-West Linn) position on abortion.
Brunn had requested Thursday that FuturePAC retract statements made on mailers it sent to voters in House District 37 which said Brunn was against abortion in the instance of rape or incest and when a mother's life was in danger.
According to the survey Brunn filled out on Project Vote Smart, he is in support of abortion when a woman's life is in danger, but not in support of abortion in the cases of incest or rape.
A letter from Brunn's attorneys to Rossolo and Michele Eberle, who is running against Brunn, also accused FuturePAC of distorting Brunn's endorsement record by saying the three-term state representative had been endorsed by the Christian Coalition and the Oregon Family Council.
But Rossolo pointed to a 2004 endorsement from the Oregon Right to Life PAC as proof that Brunn had received anti-abortion endorsements. While that endorsement was from four years ago, she said the flyers had been clear that the endorsements came from a previous election cycle.
Brunn said earlier Thursday that FuturePAC was attempting to mislead female voters by distorting his record, but Rossolo was adamant that the FuturePAC mailers were accurate. She said there would be no retraction for the statements made on the mailers.
"The facts absolutely back up everything we need to know," Rossolo said.
