DeFazio endorses Westlund
By Britten Chase, PolitickerOR.com ReporterU.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Springfield) announced Friday that he was endorsing Ben Westlund (D-Tumalo) in the state treasurer’s race.
"Ben has an independent outlook and the right priorities to help Oregonians through these tough economic times. He will fight for Main Street and help us reign in Wall Street," DeFazio said.
Westlund’s legislative priorities have included supporting efforts to end predatory payday loans, improve healthcare access for people that cannot afford it and to emphasize Oregon’s need and use of renewable energy resources.
If elected treasurer, Westlund says he will work to invest in renewable energy resources in order to strengthen Oregon’s portfolio and economy.
