Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) picked up a key endorsement Friday when the Oregon War Veterans Association announced it would be backing him in the general election.
“Consideration for the selection include accessibility to the candidate, support of OWVA's legislative proposals, track record of support for past Vet related legislation and the ability to maintain excellent customer service for Vets and Senior Citizens in the Congressional district,” the OWVA’s voter guide reads. “In every category, Schrader is far superior to Erickson."
Schrader responded enthusiastically to receiving the support from the veterans group and pledged to remain a strong voice for Oregon’s former soldiers in Washington, D.C.
"I am especially proud that OWVA is supporting me," Schrader said in a statement. "I will continue Representative Darlene Hooley's legacy of supporting our veterans during this critical time. Rep. Hooley was a strong voice for our returning soldiers, and I look forward to continuing her work in Congress."
