SurveyUSA/KATU Poll: Merkley widens lead

MEDFORD -- U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley (D-Portland) has increased his lead over U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton), according to a SurveyUSA/KATU poll released Monday.

According to the poll, Merkley is leading Smith among Oregon voters 46-41 percent. He is up two points from a poll conducted three weeks ago.

No data has been posted to the SurveyUSA site. There is no word on whether the poll’s findings are within the margin of error, but in past polls SurveyUSA has listed its margin of error at 4.4 percent.

Calls to Merkley and Smith’s campaigns were not immediately returned. The two candidates are meeting for their second and final debate Monday night in Medford. It can be watched live at 7 p.m. on KOBI.

DAVE BROWNLOW has 7% in the Voters Polls!

Kudos to KATU for reporting that DAVE BROWNLOW has a 7% in the voters polls. On a level playing field, with equal media coverage beginning on the first day of his ballot access, Brownlow's numbers would be significantly higher, if not a runaway in this election.

Across the nation, Constitution Party candidates for Congress and President are persona non grata at debates because the issues they would bring to public attention would upset the status quo. How often have you felt the candidates said nothing new? How many people have you heard complaining about having only a vote for "the lesser of two evils" in the presidential race? How many of those same people have even heard of Dr. Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate for U.S. President? Those same voters, regardless of party, would vote for Dr. Baldwin (www.baldwin08.com) because of his common-sense, constitutional solutions if they only knew he was on the ballot! The same bias applies to DAVE BROWNLOW's candidacy for Congress.

The Republicans and Democrats maintain this censorship of constitutional issues through a bi-partisan effort. Both Republicans and Democrats debate foreign aid in terms of "how much" and not in terms of constitutionality. They debate the "war" in Iraq in terms of "when should we withdraw" and not in terms of the constitutionality of our even being there. They debate allowing offshore oil drilling, but do not discuss the federal government's lack of constitutional authority to ban or permit what is the rightful jurisdiction of each state to decide. They debate the financial bailout in terms of "what effect it will have," but never in terms of its constitutionality. Then together, they tell the taxpayers the bailout is for their benefit. Most Americans know when they are being robbed. For this reason, the Constitution Party is growing even faster than the dollar is falling.

There is still hope for America. Vote DAVE BROWNLOW for Senate and reap the benefits of his common-sense solutions to the critical issues facing America today!
