State Treasurer candidate Ben Westlund (D-Tumalo) criticized Allen Alley’s (R-Lake Oswego) business practices in a new ad released Tuesday.
The ad accuses Alley, the former CEO of Pixelworks, of outsourcing Oregon jobs, working as an economic advisor to President George W. Bush, and also accuses him of receiving a lucrative buyout after he stepped down as CEO in 2006.
“Allen Alley has been engaged in the same corporate practices that have caused this financial crisis,” said Westlund Manager Stacey Dycus. “He has the wrong experience and the wrong priorities to be trusted with public money, voters deserve to know that he’s just too risky.”
Alley, who is the former deputy chief of staff for Gov. Ted Kulongoski, has been touting his business experience on the campaign trail, arguing his professional background is better suited to take into the state treasurer’s office. He has often accused Westlund, a state senator from central Oregon, of having legislative experience, but little financial experience.
