DSCC drops $10.2 million in Oregon Senate race, more than doubling NRSC's $4.8 million

Both the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee have been big spenders in Oregon this election cycle, according to campaign finance numbers released by the Federal Elections Commission Wednesday.

According to the FEC, the DSCC has spent $10,222,603.32 to assist U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley (D-Portland). Meanwhile, the NRSC has spent $4,833,477.58 to help U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith defend his seat. Those numbers, tracked through October 20, and are only going to go higher in the final week of campaigning.

Oregon has thus far been the DSCC’s most expensive race. Their second-most expensive race is North Carolina, where the Dems dropped $8,274,546.97.to help U.S. Senate candidate Kay Hagan's (D-N.C.) heated race to unseat  U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Dole (R-N.C.).

For the NRSC, Oregon was their fourth most expensive race. They also spent $5,684,868.40 to help U.S. Sen. John Sununu (D-N.H.), $5,549,056.75 to help U.S. Sen. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), and $4,886,679.79 to help Dole.
