Labor Commissioner Dan Gardner announced today that he will be resigning, effective in April, in order to take a position with the electrical workers union in Washington, D.C.
Gov. Ted Kulongoski will be responsible for appointing Gardner’s replacement to the now non-partisan position, who will then have to run in the general election.
"This was an opportunity I could not pass up," said Gardner in a statement.
"I'm returning to my roots as an advocate for working people and their families and I truly look forward to the challenge," he continued.
