DSCC: Smith paid $1.25M for four golf clubs

A new ad by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee is accusing U.S. Sen. Gordon Smith (R-Pendleton) for paying $1.25 million for four golf clubs.

According to one citizen in the video: “I think they should take a page out of our books and try to live like us for a while, and then they would see what it feels like, you know, to live paycheck to paycheck.” Another Oregonian suggests paying that much for golf clubs “would be stupid.”

Smith, the Republican incumbent, is running against state House Speaker Jeff Merkley (D- Portland). The Smith campaign was not available for immediate response.

Gordon Smith's Golf Clubs

Do the people in this video actually think that U.S. Senators make the kind of money that affords one to spend $1.25 million on golf clubs? Gordon Smith's family happens to own a successful private business and if he wants to spend that much on some golf clubs, more power to him. Last time I checked, we still lived in a free country where ANYONE has the opportunity to make their dreams come true. Would you make a video chastising someone who spent $1.25 million on a work of art or a vintage car? Maybe Mr. Smith collects rare golf clubs...did anyone bother to find out?

A Note:

It's not an ad.

It's a web video.

If it were an ad there would be a disclaimer and they would put it on tv.

They are vintage clubs

One of the clubs dates back to 1504 as I understand it. Maybe we should have full disclosure of all politcal figures on what they've collected over their lives!
No one seems upset over $30,000 dinners with Obama in Hollywood. Hmmm....
