John Kroger, the Democratic candidate for state attorney general, has not only won his own party’s nomination, but he’s secured the Republican nomination as well.
According to The Oregonian, this was possible since “No Republican candidate was on the ballot, so elections officials counted the 13,043 write-in votes. Kroger won.”
The Oregonian also reported that Kroger accepted the nomination. Therefore, no Republican will have their name on the ballot.
“I am very pleased to win the Republican nomination. Winning this nomination shows that there is broad, bipartisan support for my agenda of tackling Oregon's meth crisis, improving consumer protection, and strengthening enforcement of our environmental laws,” Kroger wrote on his website.
Although the election was held on May 20, the results for the Republican primary were not published until this week.
