DPO slams Walden in Internet ad

It seems that the Democratic Party of Oregon is taking the speculation that Rep. Greg Walden might be considering a gubernatorial run in 2010 with more than a grain of salt.

The DPO fingered the Congressman’s audit problem at the National Republican Congressional Committee in a statement and a video on its website, claiming that Walden has potentially ruined his shot at the Governor’s Mansion.

“Greg Walden's successor unraveled an accounting scheme in his first year that Walden could not recognize nor solve during his entire tenure chairing the auditing panel. If Greg Walden can’t manage to make a phone call, how can he manage a state?” queried Trent Lutz, DPO Executive Director.

Walden ran the audit committee for several years, during which time the campaign arm never actually had an outside audit. Instead, NRCC treasurer Christopher Ward compiled fake audits, complete with forged stationary from an extant audit firm.
