Wyden wants an investigation
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., on Thursday called for an investigation of Donald Rumsfeld, suggesting that the former defense secretary misled -- even lied -- to Congress to build the case for invading Iraq. (Charles Pope, The Oregonian)

Smith could be persuaded
WASHINGTON -- Sen. Gordon Smith of Oregon, a key undecided vote, said Thursday he will likely back a landmark bill on climate change, even as supporters acknowledged the bill was heading toward almost certain defeat. (Associated Press)

More initiative fights
