Down to three
John Frohnmayer dropped out of Oregon's U.S. Senate race Tuesday, saying he couldn't get independent voters excited about his third party bid.

The decision focuses attention more squarely on Republican Sen. Gordon Smith and his Democratic challenger, Oregon House Speaker Jeff Merkley. Dave Brownlow, of the Constitution Party also has filed to run. (Harry Esteve, The Oregonian)

Fish sworn in

Everybody in
The Libertarian, Constitution and Pacific Green parties are getting in on the act in Oregon’s Fifth Congressional District.

All three parties have named candidates to enter the fray against Democrat Kurt Schrader and Republican Mike Erickson, winners of their respective primaries on May 20. (Steve Law, Portland Tribune)

One count still to do
The final results still aren’t in for one race in last month’s Oregon primary. A ballot measure that would give officers more power to forfeit crime-related property is so close, officials plan a statewide recount. (Chris Lehman, Oregon Public Broadcasting)
