Spinning class
Want to hear some good spin control? On the afternoon of June 3, Sources Say asked Mayor-elect Sam Adams about a plan for the city to sell the bulk of its SmartMeter parking pay stations and then lease them back. (Sources Say, Portland Tribune)

Pre-emptive alert
Democrat Jeff Merkley's U.S. Senate issued a "Flip Flop Alert" for Republican opponent Gordon Smith.

This is not to suggest that any flip flop has happened, but it is a "warning" that he might. In particular that Smith "may switch his position on tax giveaways to big oil and a windfall profits tax on oil companies. Smith will likely adopt Merkley's plans to end bailouts for big oil and provide relief to families when the Senate considers energy legislation today." (Danny Reiter, PolitickerOR.com)

Position under fire
TIGARD — A proposal intended to designate one member of the Tigard City Council as a paid, half-time city employee took some of its first public heat on Tuesday at a hearing to approve the city’s new budget. (Darryl Swan, Portland Tribune)

Say that again?
Republican Rep. Linda Flores of Clackamas blasted state Democrats and encouraged women to get involved in politics during Tuesday's luncheon of the Round-Up Republican Women. (Phil Wright, The East Oregonian)
