GOP List Grows Shorter

Rep. Vicki Berger said today she will not be seeking the CD 5 seat.

"I thought long and hard about it. I don't think this is right for me at this time," Berger told the Oregonian.

Her decision further shortens the list of names being thrown around as potential Republican candidates. Rep. Scott Bruun, who had been thinking about entering the race, said earlier this week that he would not be seeking the nomination.

Berger’s announcement narrows the (suspected) field to Mike Erickson, who filed long before Hooley decided not to run again, and who has enjoyed support—but no nomination—from the GOP, Rep. Brian Boquist and Kevin Mannix, both of whom are still considering entering the race.
