My campaign continued to build momentum today, as three new high profile elected officials endorsed my candidacy:
- Congresswoman Darlene Hooley, whose district includes much of the northern Willamette Valley,
- Oregon State Treasurer Randall Edwards, and
- Oregon Superintendent of Public Instruction Susan Castillo.
These endorsements mean a lot to me. Along with Governors Kulongoski and Roberts (who both endorsed me earlier this year), these are leaders who know what it takes to improve the personal safety and financial security of Oregon families.
I've now been endorsed by all three of the current statewide elected officials who have taken positions in the race, two of the last three governors, and the only federal elected official who has chosen a candidate.
"Greg carried the state legislation cracking down on ID theft and meth manufacturing, two of the most important issues Oregon's Attorney General can deal with," said Congresswoman Hooley, who is a national leader on both issues. "He's led the way in tackling Oregon's toughest challenges, and has made a real difference for Oregon families."
"No other candidate for Attorney General can match Greg's drive, intelligence, and passion for Oregon," said Treasurer Edwards. "There's a reason that so many Oregonians who are committed to public service are supporting Greg."
"I'm endorsing Greg for Attorney General because of his record of fighting for Oregon's children," said Superintendent Castillo. "Year after year, he's been there, working to improve schools, make neighborhoods safer, and protect open space."
In addition to these high profile endorsements from Oregon leaders, I'm proud to say I'm the only Attorney General candidate who has raised the vast majority of his support from within the state. Through today, 98% of my donors live in Oregon.
As Attorney General, I vow to be a people's advocate, fighting to make neighborhoods safer; ensuring that consumers are protected from scam artists and unscrupulous companies; defending laws that protect freedom of choice, personal privacy, and the right to die with dignity; and guarding Oregon's unique natural treasures.
We heard some good speeches from both national and local leaders in Denver, John McCain finally announced his veep choice and Oregon lobbyists are still restricted when it comes to spending on ... >
