Jeff Merkley, Senator Max Cleland to Hold Town Hall Meeting at Portland State University

Ending the War in Iraq, Upholding America's Commitment to Veterans

Senator and Vietnam Veteran Max Cleland will join Oregon House Speaker Jeff Merkley for a town hall meeting at 9:00 a.m., TOMORROW, Tuesday, April 29th at the Smith Center at Portland State University in Portland on how to end the war in Iraq and fulfill America's commitment to veterans.

Senator Cleland and Speaker Merkley will meet with Oregon veterans, men and women in uniform, students, and families to discuss a responsible plan to bring troops home from Iraq within six to twelve months and ensure that our veterans have quality health care and access to higher education or job training to help them succeed.

Cleland and Merkley will call for a new G.I. Bill for the 21st Century to expand educational opportunities for veterans and guarantee free tuition to the family members of those who lose their lives serving our country.
