Although Jeff Merkley’s campaign declined to release their April fundraising numbers, Matt Canter, Merkley’s spokesman did say that the Speaker raised more than his primary opponent in the Democratic Senate race, Steve Novick.
Canter also gave a bit of an update on Merkley’s “network of support,” putting a different spin on having raised a substantive sum from outside of Oregon.
“Along with recruiting thousands of supporters across Oregon, Merkley has built a network of supporters across the country,” Canter said. “That’s what it is going to take to defeat Gordon Smith.”
One of Merkley’s biggest out of state supporters is the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.
