OR-5: Poll shows Schrader up by 24

Congressional candidate Kurt Schrader (D-Canby) has a strong lead over his campaign rival Mike Erickson (R-Lake Oswego), according to a poll released Thursday.

The poll, conducted by SurveyUSA, show that 55 percent of OR-5 voters are supporting Schrader, while just 31 percent are backing Erickson. Third party candidates are getting 10 percent of the vote, and four percent of voters are undecided.

The poll showed that Schrader has strong leads among women, men, and every age group. Seventeen percent of Republicans in the district have also said they are voting for the Canby state Senator.

OR-5 was considered to be a district in play when current U.S. Rep. Darlene Hooley (D-West Linn) announced her retirement in February. But after Erickson ran into controversies ranging from accusations to paying for a girlfriend's abortion, to accusations of misrepresenting a vacation to Cuba as a vacation, he has struggled to win support from both Democrats and Republicans.

Despite the abortion accusations, according to this survey, 62 percent of pro-life voters are still supporting Erickson.

The poll was conducted by surveying 668 likely voters. The margin of error is +/- 4.4 percent.

It's amazing how many voters

It's amazing how many voters are casting ballots this year. And we get to see the micromovement of voter sentiment every time a poll is published. This election will come down to the economy. Whoever voters think will do the best job of fixing the economy will win -- at every level of office.

I found this poll that asks which candidate (president) has a better jobs agenda --

I'm willing to bet it predicts the outcome of the election.
