Novick's protest vote

In the Merkley-Novick-Obama skirmish, Novick has been taking some flack for his 1998 letter which praised Ralph Nader. Jeff Mapes reported on Monday that in 1996 Novick put his money where his mouth was when he voted for the failed presidential candidate.

Novick told Mapes that he only voted for Nader once, when he was upset at President Bill Clinton, and the Independent candidate posed no threat of installing a Republican in the White House.

"Every now and then you can cast a protest vote," said Novick.

He also told Mapes that in 2000, "what Nader did was insane,” supporting the widespread Democratic belief that Nader took enough votes from Al Gore to propel George W. Bush into the White House.

1996?

So is Novick one of those Clinton-hating, blame-Democrats-first kind of partisans?
