No Race for Rep. Bruun

Although he has been spoken of as a possible candidate for the Republican race for CD 5, Rep. Scott Bruun will not be seeking the nomination.

Boquist to Wait

Among those suspected to jump in the race for the Republican nomination for Rep. Hooley’s soon-to-be-vacant seat is Representative Brian Boquist. He ran against Hooley twice in 2000 and 2002.

Representative Boquist’s office is said today that the Oregon legislator will not be making a decision about running in CD5 until after March 1. Boquist will be releasing a statement on Monday to this effect.

House Dems out; Johnston considering

Sources indicate that House Majority Leader Dave Hunt has cornered all House Dems who live in the 5th CD into one room and confirmed that all are staying in the legislature. That precludes House members Brian Clem, Betty Komp, and Greg Macpherson from getting in. No word if any state senators in the district are considering a bid.  read more »

Boquist jumps in race for State Senate

State Rep. Brian Boquist is set to run for State Senate, the Salem Statesman Journal’s Steve Law reports today.

Boquist, a Dallas Republican, is serving his second term in the House. He will be running for the seat that is currently occupied by Republican Gary George.
