Cambell to forgo run for Sec of State

Oregon Public Broadcasting is reporting that Republican Craig Campbell- whose name has been floating around as a potential candidate for Secretary of State – has decided against a run. According to the OPB story, Campbell acknowledged heavy recruitment from the state GOP, but ultimately concluded that the current political climate is simply too unfavorable for Republicans.

GOP struggle to find candidates continues

Craig Campbell, the only prospective statewide candidate that has surfaced in past weeks, has told his lobby buddies he’s only “contemplating” the treasurer’s race until the party organization can find a different sacrificial lamb to take his place, as he has no interest in that position (or pay cut).

Future PAC, Macpherson lead in fundraising

The race for cash is off and running with Majority Leader Dave Hunt and the House Democrats leading in the amount of dough raised at $226,549 and Attorney General candidate Greg Macpherson with a whopping $251,525 on hand.

Kate Brown leads the charge in the Secretary of State race pulling in $155,295, however, Brad Avakian’s meager $2264 in his bank account speaks much louder and enhances recent speculation that he may be dismounting the SOS horse race altogether. Perhaps a better offer has come along?

Campbell considers run for state treasurer

The Oregonian's Jeff Mapes is reporting that Salem lobbyist Craig Campbell is pondering a campaign for state treasurer.

"It's really a fascinating job," Campbell tells Mapes. "It has a tremendous amount of responsibility."
