Merkley pleased by judge's ruling on lobbying gift limit laws

DENVER -- Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Jeff Merkley was pleased on Thursday that a judge upheld a lobbying gifts limit law that the legislature passed in 2007.

"I think that's great," Merkley, the state House speaker, said. "I really worked to change the culture in Oregon so that politicians are accessible to the public, and accountable to the public."

Perkins Coie takes on Salem

Certain law firms in Oregon are notorious hot beds of political activity. Stoel Rives produced retiring Attorney General Hardy Myers and the man who wants to succeed him, State Rep. Greg Macpherson. Former State Rep. Max Williams worked for Miller Nash during his days in the legislature. Tonkon Torp has lobbyist Jack Isselmann working the halls of the capital and Davis Wright Tremaine has lobbyist John DiLorenzo.
