Kitzhaber Endorses Novick

Steve Novick scored a big endorsement today when former Governor John Kitzhaber, one of the most popular of Oregon’s recent politicians, threw his support behind the Senate candidate.

"I am endorsing Steve Novick because he fully understands that in order to secure the future of this nation we must first be willing to face the facts," Kitzhaber said.  read more »

Wind is picking up for Avakian Campaign

Any rumors that Senator Brad Avakian is leaving the Secretary of State race will be quashed this week when he rolls out a few of his Democratic endorsers. Kroger Speaks to Young Professionals Club

John Kroger, who’s running for the Democratic nomination for Hardy Myers' retirement after three terms as Attorney General has sparked a spirited Democratic primaryHardy Myers' retirement after three terms as Attorney General has sparked a spirited Democratic primaryState Attorney General, addressed an intimate group of about fifty Thursday night and engaged in a brief Q&A session.

Kroger, a professor at Lewis and Clark Law School and a former federal prosecutor, praised current Attorney General Hardy Myers, who announced this summer he would not be seeking reelection after almost twelve years as Oregon’s top law enforcement official. In announcing his decision, Myers, now 68, cited his age and a belief that the Justice Department can benefit from fresh leadership.

Kroger did however, highlight some key philosophical distinctions between himself and Myers, and suggested he would pursue a broader approach to the position.

John Kitzhaber today announced his endorsement of former federal prosecutor and Lewis & Clark Law Professor John Kroger in his race to become the next Attorney General of Oregon. “I am proud to endorse John Kroger to be the next Attorney General of Oregon,” Gov. Kitzhaber said. “I like John's deep courtroom experience and his thoughtful ideas for protecting our children and the environment. He's a fighter, and that makes him the right person for the job.”
