Senator Schrader is in

Sen. Kurt Schrader has decided to jump into the race for the fifth Congressional District, while Commissioner Martha Schrader will be seeking re-election to her current post.

Schrader is currently the only Democrat in the race, while Mike Erickson is the only Republican to file thus far.

Mooney Evans faces potential conflict of interest

With website Politico reporting that former Monmouth Mayor Paul Evans announced his candidacy to replace retiring Rep. Darlene Hooley, many Democrats are wondering if his wife, Joan Mooney Evans, will resign as Hooley's Chief of Staff in Washington, DC.

Count on a Schrader

Clackamas County Commissioner Martha Schrader said today that there will be a Schrader running for Congress, it is just a question of whether the candidate will be a State Senator or a County Commissioner.

Schrader and her husband Sen. Kurt Schrader have been analyzing which one of them is more electable, noting the importance of retaining a Democratic representative in the swing district.  read more »

Schrader 'Open' to Running

Martha Schrader, a Clackamas County Commissioner who has emerged on the short list for Rep. Hooley’s replacement, said she is “shocked and awed” that the Congresswoman has decided to not seek re-election.

DCCC considering Evans, Schrader

The DCCC is considering two candidates to fill Hooley’s sport on the ballot: Paul Evans, the former mayor of Monmouth and an Iraq War veteran, and Martha Schrader, a County Commissioner in Clackamas County.

"We are confident that a Democrat will win this seat and continue to work to change the direction of the country," said DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen.
