Showdown for senate district 20

Filling the vacant seat of state Senator Kurt Schrader (D-Canby), who is now heading to Congress, is turning out to be more of a saga than some pols initially anticipated.  Clackamas County Commissioner Martha Schrader, wife of Kurt, and former Democratic House candidate Toby Forsberg are now both serious contenders for the open seat and are leaning on their own respective heavyweights in government for a little help.  Both Forsberg and Schrader have gone on the record with PolitickerOR.com regarding their interest in the state senate appointment.

Kennemer to seek seat on State Legislature

Clackamas commissioner Bill Kennemer will run for a seat on the State Legislature, the Oregonian's Peter Zuckerman reports today. Kennemer, a Republican, will forego a re-election bid for his current seat on the Board of Commissioners to pursue the seat that will soon be vacated by retiring Republican Rep. Wayne Scott.
