DCCC taking sides in the 5th?

Yesterday PolitickerOR reported on the confidence of the DCCC in holding onto Oregon's 5th congressional district being vacated by Darlene Hooley. Two serious contenders, State Sen. Kurt Schrader and activist Steve Marks, are both vying for the Democratic nod.

Initial indications were that the DCCC was staying out of the primary, however, going on the record, Chairman Chris Van Hollen stated "We have a very good candidate in Kurt Schrader and we think he’s in a good position to move forward,” and then went on to state that Schrader’s record as a moderate would serve him well in the race.

Apparently, Marks was not mentioned in the press conference.

That said, the DCCC repeated that they are not taking sides in this primary.

Schrader vs. Marks

Kurt Schrader may be the presumptive Democratic nominee, but Mr. Marks just needs to be patient—the race isn’t over. If the widely circulated rumors are true, Mr. Schrader, a veterinarian and self-styled cowboy, has violated the first rule of life on the legislative ranch--- “don’t ride the lobbyist work-horses.”
