Trial lawyers holding off on victory lap

Looks like the Oregon Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) is holding off on that victory lap after learning two ballot initiatives targeting their entire industry failed to make the November ballot.  Elon Hasson, campaign manager for the effort to oppose the measures, recently told OTLA members of concerns that the fight will very likely move to federal court.  Such fears have caused the organization to continue raising big money to defeat a measure limiting attorney contingency fees and another measure punishing attorneys for filing "frivilous" lawsuits, both sponsored by Russ Walker, vice chairman of the Oregon Republican Party.  And who does Walker have defending his fearless federal fight?  Political newcomer Tyler Smith, who graduated from law school just one year ago.
