Smith might keep a crimson color around in Oregon

Despite the winning a resounding supermajority in the Oregon House, it looks like Democrat Jeff Merkley is falling short of a win against incumbent Republican Gordon Smith.  Smith currently leads Merkley by 8,154 votes, however, there are still quite a few votes to be counted in the liberal Lane and Multnomah counties.  Democratic activists spoke of the blue tidal wave taking over the state, but Smith might be able to keep them at bay for six more years.  Hopefully more results soon.

Merkley has certainly won.

Merkley has certainly won. He will win by about 40,000 votes, if not more.
