Forsberg to fill Schrader's state senate seat
By Wally EdgeThe dust has settled on the fifth congressional race and much to no one's surprise Democrat Kurt Schrader is the victor. Schrader will vacate his state senate seat that he still has another two years left in his term to serve. Newly elected Speaker of the House Dave Hunt is very clear about who he wants to see fill Schrader's seat - none other than his good friend Toby Forsberg who just lost by a few hundred votes to Republican Bill Kennemer for the Oregon City state house seat. A Forsberg appointment would mean he gets to start building his legislative record in the Oregon legislature right away, he can start raising money for what might be a tough race in 2010 and he would ultimately preclude any other Democrat from jumping into the primary. No other wannabe senators have thrown his or her name around for the appointment process, but it's early.
