Any rumors that Senator Brad Avakian is leaving the Secretary of State race will be quashed this week when he rolls out a few of his Democratic endorsers. Former Governor John Kitzhaber and Former Congressman Les Aucoin will top the list of several heavyweight elected officials who are throwing their support to Avakian. Newly hired Avakian campaign manager Michael Clarke is working hard to mobilize support and raise money for the upcoming four-way Democratic primary against senate colleagues Kate Brown, Rick Metsger and Vicki Walker. “Simply put, Brad is running to win,” said Clarke.
Other Avakian endorsements include:
Rep. Tobias Read, 27th District
Rep. Jeff Barker, 28th District
Rep. Mitch Greenlick, 33rd District
Rep. Suzanne Bonamici, 34th District
Rep. Larry Galizio, 35th District
Randy Leonard, Portland City Council
Martha Schrader, Clackamas County Commissioner
Charlotte Lehan, Wilsonville Mayor
Mark Welczko, a losing primary challenger to U.S. Rep. David Wu earlier this year, has declared his intention to join the race for Labor Commissioner against incumbent Brad Avakian. >
