We heard some good speeches from both national and local leaders in Denver, John McCain finally announced his veep choice and Oregon lobbyists are still restricted when it comes to spending on legislators. Defend Oregon finds itself seriously in the hole and Thomason Toyota is held liable for an office environment one would only expect 45 years ago prior to Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream speech. Here are this week's Winners & Losers.

Winners

Losers

Barack Obama

He gave more specifics on his plans for America and threw his opponent John McCain around just enough to start a rumble for the fall election season.

Big $ Lobbyists/John DiLorenzo

A Marion County judge upheld Senate Bill 10 ethical restrictions on the $50 limit lobbyists can spend on legislators. Let's see if DiLorenzo has better luck on the appeal.

Hillary Clinton

She did all she could to rally her troops to support Barack Obama with great dignity. Now let's see if they listen.

Thomason Toyota

Creating a horrifying work environment for their minority employees, a jury punished the company with a $19 million verdict in favor of the plaintiffs.

Sarah Palin

Chosen as John McCain's running mate, she will do all she can to scoop up disgruntled Clinton voters.

Oregon Democratic Delegates

Oregon delegates to this week's convention whined like little babies when they didn't get the seating placement on the floor they wanted. Perhaps a closer race for Obama in Oregon would have granted their wishes.

Bill Bradbury

The current Secretary of State and former losing challenger to Senator Gordon Smith announced his intentions to run for Oregon Governor in 2010. First to the trough gets the best feed.

Defend Oregon

Despite word that OSEA was donating $100,000 to the labor based group created to defeat conservative ballot measures, they are currently $121,904 in the red.

Jeff Merkley

Although his speech abilities could use some work, national Democrats made it very clear they are going all the way for Merkley's U.S. Senate race.

Oregon State Fans

Brother to Michelle Obama, Craig Robinson gave Beaver fans a nod on Monday night when introducing his sister to the nation.

Gordon Smith

While his opponent was living it up in Denver all week, Smith never missed a beat attacking Merkley on television.
