Back for your viewing pleasure we are giving you our weekly winners and losers.  Not much going on this week, but Vicki Walker managed to garner more press and there is one more Democrat in the city of Portland.  Keep checking the Inside Edge for our weekly cast of characters.

Winners

Losers

Jeff Merkley

The Democratic Party of Oregon chips in for his new television ad in an attempt to keep up with rival Gordon Smith’s million-dollar television extravaganza

Bill Bradbury

Giving little explanation for why he yanked GOP nominee Jeff Duyck out of the 29th district after years of allowing him to vote in the district, the retiring Secretary of State allows politics before policy as he makes his final exit

Charles Lewis

The Portland City Council candidate became a father when his wife gave birth this week to Coakley Anna Lewis, the couple’s first child

Brent Crosson

The accountant got caught with his hand in the till when he was sentenced by federal Judge Garr King to two years in federal prison for stealing $1 million from the Oregon Department of Education

John Kroger

After winning both the Democratic and Republican nominations for Oregon Attorney General, the political newcomer is now teaming up with US Senate candidate Jeff Merkley to combat Oregon crime (too bad it’s not organized)

Vicki Walker

One by one the marbles continue to fall out of her head as she gives no substantive reason for opposing Jim Francesconi’s reappointment to the higher-ed board other than claiming he’s an alleged “Goldschmidt guy.” She told the Willamette Week she hopped on her motorcycle from Eugene to Salem to get to the vote. Thanks for the visual.

Earl Blumenauer

Thinking outside the proverbial all consuming oil-digging box, the Portland Congressman came forward with a plan to save energy by promoting more public transportation and other alternatives to driving like tele-commuting

MetroFi

After promising all Portlanders free access to the web, this week California start-up company completely shut down all access and sold their equipment on ebay.

Gordon Smith

Targeting every possible demographic in the state with a variety of cushy feel-good television ads, the incumbent senator is likely to stay on top of his game for some time to come.
